Susan Baune, age 59, of Rochester, MN, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls, MN with a lunch following the funeral mass. Visitation will be at 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the church, with a Parish prayer service at 6:30 PM. Graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM (noon) on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery in Redwood Falls, MN.

Born on February 23, 1966, Susan dedicated over 35 years of her life to nursing, providing care and compassion to countless patients throughout her career. Her unwavering commitment to her profession exemplified her kind nature and her genuine desire to help others. Susan was a devoted nurse and beloved family member.
Susan's educational journey began at Pacelli Catholic High School, where she graduated in 1984. In 1989, she graduated as LPN from Riverland College. In 2000, she graduated as RN from Rochester Community Tech College. She furthered her education by earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix in 2010 and a Master of Science in Nursing and Master of Business Administration; from the same institution in 2013. This pursuit of knowledge paved the way for her impactful career in healthcare.
In 1999, Susan married her loving spouse, Jess Baune, in a beautiful ceremony at the Turtle Dove Tea House in Albert Lea, MN. Their partnership flourished over the years, nurtured by their deep love and shared values. Together they welcomed a family that brought joy and fulfillment to their lives.
Susan is survived by her husband, Jess Baune of Rochester, MN; her step-son, Justin (Tricia) Baune of Hutchinson, MN; and her daughters, Stephanie Hovland of Rochester, MN, Heather (Matt) Gunderson of Pine Island, MN, and Katlyn (Tyler) Bishop of Plymouth, MN. Her mother, Bernice Carpenter of Otsego, MN. She was a cherished grandmother to six grandchildren, who will always remember her warmth and affection. Susan also leaves behind her sisters, Ellen, Leigh, and Karen, as well as her in-laws: Jill and Rick of St. Augusta, MN, Jay and Tami of Redwood Falls, MN, Joel and Karen of Redwood Falls, MN, Jody and JR of Willmar, MN, and Jason and Brenda of Hutchinson, MN.
Susan is preceded in death by her father, Bill Carpenter; her brothers, Craig Carpenter and Billy Carpenter; and her in-laws, MaDonna Baune and Dale Baune. She was also preceded by her nephews, Brian Studer and Jordan Baune.
Susan Baune’s legacy of compassion, dedication, and love will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed and remembered fondly by her family, friends, numerous nieces and nephews and the many lives she touched throughout her nursing career.
