Robert Claiborne Berry, Jr., 86, a native of Durham, passed away on December 25, 2024. He was born to the late Claiborne and Fannie Belle Berry on October 10, 1938.
Robert graduated from high school at Hargrave Military Academy. After high school, he attended Campell College. There he graduated with a Bachelor's degree, and after graduating from Campbell, Robert joined the Army Reserve. He served as a member in the Reserves for six years.
Robert is survived by his wife Judy, with whom he celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on December 19th. He is also survived by his son Clay III and wife Beth Berry; daughter Susan and husband Joseph Ososki; grandsons Christopher and Benjamin Berry, and Ryan Ohlsen; and great-grandchildren Yvonne, Cadyen, and Cameron.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter Elizabeth in 2011.
A memorial service for Robert will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 11:00 am at Watts Street Baptist Church in Durham, with a reception following after the service.
