Robert Joe Bills, age 86, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023. Robert was born on Wednesday, November 11, 1936, in El Paso, Texas to the late Cecil Ray Bills and Jewell Marjorieann (Carpenter) Ellis. Robert was the widower of Gretchen Arnett (Bogardus) Bills, whom he married on September 24, 1960, and who died on June 1, 2017. In addition to his parents and wife, Robert is preceded in death by his brother, Richard Bills and his sister, Dorothy Daniel.
Robert’s survivors include his two children: Robert “Rob” Bills and wife, Kathleen, of Greentown and Lyndra Bills of Marysville; and his brother: William “Bill” J. Ellis of El Paso, Texas.
Robert was born and raised on his family farm and cattle feedlot in Fabens, Texas. He had a bachelor's degree in animal science from Texas Tech University. He was a 32nd° mason in the Lodge of Texas. Robert worked hard all of his life and was devoted to his wife and family. He and his wife were very active in the first Christian church of Amarillo Texas.
Robert’s family will be remembering his life privately. Cremation was private.
