Robert “Bob” Bennett, 87, of Wendell, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the Barrett Care Center.
Robert Lee Bennett was born on September 24, 1938, in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, to Herbert and Ester (Schmidt) Bennett. When Bob was only 2 weeks old, his mother Ester passed away, and his grandmother, Ida Schmidt, helped care for him and his brother, Gordon. Bob grew up in Pelican Rapids and attended school there.
On November 19, 1960, Bob married Joyce Struckman in Sisseton, South Dakota. The couple would be blessed with 2 children, Lori and Glen. After he and Joyce were married, they moved to the Twin Cities area where Bob worked for Contra Plastics for 25 years. The couple would eventually make their way back to the area and settle in Wendell.
Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing card games, and watching Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry. He was known to be a practical joker, and loved finding treasures at garage sales.
Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce; daughter, Lori Peasley; son, Glen Bennett; grandson, Aaron Berge; great-grandson, Brandon Berge; and sister-in-law, Sylvia (Dan) Frasson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Ester; brother, Gordon Bennett; and grandson, Harley Berge.
