Robert "Bob" Froehlich, 72, of Brick, NJ, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, at Ocean University Medical Center.

Born in Elizabeth, NJ, Bob was raised in Summit and graduated from Summit High School. Later in life, he returned to school and proudly earned his associate's degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Florham Park, joking that he "majored in Core," the university's required curriculum, a perfect reflection of his dry wit and humble nature.

Before settling in Brick, Bob lived in Three Bridges and Chatham Township. He worked for the Chatham Township Department of Public Works Water Pollution Control, where he was known affectionately by coworkers as "Hawk." Bob was respected for his reliability, strong work ethic, and offbeat sense of humor. He retired after years of loyal service marked by integrity and dedication, and was honored several times with the department's "Iron Man Award."

A simple man with a big heart, Bob was happiest near the ocean. He spent countless hours at Brick Beach I, perched on his favorite bench with a black 20 oz. coffee from Wawa, chatting with locals, walking the coastline, or checking in with the fishermen. He loved bodyboarding and surf fishing, and never missed a chance to talk sports, especially college athletics and horse racing.

Bob was known for his quirky, unmistakable sense of humor, the king of nicknames and one-liners. He greeted everyone with a signature "What's up?" (long before it was cool) or a drawn-out "Hey maaaaan". He made friends wherever he went and had a special ability to connect with people of all ages, always ready with a smile, a silly nickname, or a song made up on the spot. His lightness, warmth, and gentle nature made him someone people loved being around.

He was the devoted partner and steady supporter of the love of his life, Janet Thomason. His commitment to her care was unwavering, and their bond was rooted in deep love, loyalty, and companionship.

Bob is predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Ruth (nee Neher) Froehlich; his sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Graebener; his brother, Timothy Froehlich; and his nephew, Daniel Froehlich.

He is survived by his partner Janet Thomason; his brothers Fred Froehlich and Jim Froehlich (Cheri Pertesis); his brother-in-law Larry Graebener; his nieces Adria Bogosian (Scott), Erin Graebener (Kristi Pace), and Hilary Froehlich (Adam Boothby); and his great-nephews and niece, Derek, Justin, and Dakota.

Bob will be deeply missed for his humor, his warmth, and his love of life's simple pleasures. He leaves behind memories that will bring smiles and laughter for years to come.

Following Bob's wishes, there will be no traditional wake or funeral service, as he will be cremated. Those who would like to honor his memory are encouraged to enjoy a quiet moment at the beach, sip a black coffee or a cold soda, and think of him with a smile.
