Robert Warren “Bob” Penley passed away peacefully after an extended illness on November 7, 2024, at the age of 71. He was surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on December 10, 1952, in Vicksburg, MS to the late James L. “Buck” Penley, Sr. and Ann Warren Penley.
Bob served his country in the United States Army prior to graduating from The University of Southern Mississippi. After college, he met and married Marsha Penley, the love of his life for almost 44 years ago. They had one child, Robin Krause. Bob was an educator and coach at Denham Springs Jr. High School for a number of years. He went on to work for and retire from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. While he enjoyed his career very much, his greatest joy was raising his daughter. He was a very loving and doting father, as well as husband. He most certainly spoiled them both. Bob was an avid bowler. He also loved taking care of the family dogs over the years: Sadie, Bella, Lady, and Luna. Bob was a sweet soul who will be terribly missed.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, James L. “Buck” Penley, Sr. and Ann Warren Penley, his father-in-law, James Wilton “JW” Lilly, Sr., and sister-in-law, Hollie Chiniche Lilly.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha, daughter, Robin, and her husband Edward J. “Duke” Krause II. He is also survived by his brother James L. “Buck” Penley Jr., (wife Betty Penley) of Vicksburg, MS, sister, Roye Ann “Sissy” Penley Carter, of Clinton, MS, brothers-in-law James “Jim” Lilly, Jr. (wife Amy Takehara Lilly) of San Antonio, Texas, Dale Lilly of Visalia, CA, and sister-in-law Janet O’Bannon (husband Randy O’Bannon) of Durango, Colorado, as well as 12 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on November 16, 2024, at Wholly Ground, located at 27988 Walker South Rd, Walker, LA 70785 from 11:00 am to noon. Services will be held graveside at Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery at 12:15 p.m., with fellowship and luncheon immediately following at Wholly Ground.
