Robert Russell Sorenson was born in Graceville, MN, to Fred and Joyce (Jensen) Sorenson. He grew up in the small town of Wilmot, SD, where he graduated from Wilmot High School with the Class of 1989. He later earned a bachelor's degree in Mechanized Agriculture from South Dakota State University in 1994, setting the foundation for a life dedicated to hard work and community.
On August 21, 2004, Bob was united in marriage with the love of his life, Lindy K. Argo at the Wilmot Lutheran Church. Together, they raised two children: Kaylee and Noah.
Throughout his journey, Bob resided in several locations, including Rapid City, SD, Brookings, SD, and Bend, OR, before returning to his roots in Wilmot. He was a man of many talents, having worked in carpentry and construction before embracing the call of farming. His commitment to his craft was mirrored by his dedication to his family, who he regarded as his greatest joy.
Bob had a zest for life, characterized by his love of music, which he expressed as a young man playing the guitar. He found joy in the great outdoors, enjoying camping, fishing, deer hunting, snowboarding, and wakeboarding, as well as sharing laughter around bonfires.
He was not only a wonderful cook and baker, known for his delicious chili, jerky, homemade ice cream, and lefse, but also a spirited competitor who enjoyed the camaraderie of family game nights filled with Wii, card games, and board games.
As an avid sports fan, Robert passionately supported the Minnesota Vikings, Twins, and Timberwolves, while also enjoying the thrill of NASCAR and dirt track racing. Bob’s faith was a guiding light in his life, and his warmth and kindness endeared him to all.
A man with a big heart, Robert had a special affinity for animals, particularly cats, and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. His sense of humor and ability to make others laugh will forever remain engraved in the memories of his loved ones.
