Robert "Bob" Dalton Wagner, age 78, of Fremont, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 17, 2025, surrounded by family.
Born in Fremont on September 4, 1946, Bob attended school in Lindsay, Ohio through 8" grade and graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1964. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Vietnam. In 1969, he married Sandra L. Sachs, and together they built a good life filled with love, family, and friends.
Bob was a dedicated member of the Ohio Operating Engineers, Local 18, for over 50 years. He operated heavy machinery, including excavators, bulldozers and cranes, with skill and pride. After retiring in 2005, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: the occasional donut, traveling, gardening, and especially growing heirloom tomatoes.
Bob faced serious health challenges for years, but he never let them stop him from providing for his family. He was proud of his children and found joy in every moment spent with his loved ones and friends. His warm smile could light up a room, and his positive spirit lifted those around him. Bob was strong, full of heart, and always enjoyed a good laugh. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
He is survived by his children, Kevin Wagner (Dawn) and Kara Wagner; and his grandchildren: Koby Wagner and Mason Wagner, and siblings William Wagner (Polly), Wayne Wagner (Gloria) and Beverly Roe. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas Jr. and Marie Wagner; his brother Nicholas Ill Wagner; and his sister Betty Wiedle.
Visitation will be held at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, 900 North Street, from 6:00-8:00pm on Friday, July 25. Services will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, July 26 with a half hour of visitation from 9:30 until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at McGormley Cemetery.
