Clyde Eugene (Buss) Booze, 88, formerly of Fremont, died at 1:46 pm Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Autumnwood Care Center.
Clyde was born on February 12, 1937, to Everett Clyde Booze and Margaret Smith Booze. He married Ann P. Earle on June 8, 1959, and she died of cancer on November 18, 1989. He married Mattie Hammons Baker on April 26, 1991, and she died of Alzheimer's on August 18, 2015.
Survivors include three daughters, Lorrie A. Kirby (Charlie) of Sycamore, Lorrayne A. Kovasckitz (David) of Tiffin, and Lynda A. Booze (Dave Smith) of Willard. A son, Clyde Everett Buddy Booze (LuAnn) of Bettsville; six grandchildren: Brandie Fitch, Nicole Fitch, Rachele Booze, Steven Booze, Patrina Ross, and Brandon E. Wise; and nine great-grandchildren; siblings: John Booze, Diana Wagner, Julia Albert, and Becky Huffer; cousins; and many nieces and nephews.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, first and second wives, brothers Jimmy, Danny, and Norman Booze; and sisters, Margaret Nieset, Janet Barnett, and Kathy Scott; a lost sister, Helen Booze;grandson Zachary Gibson, great-grandson Jaden Fitch and a lifelong friend, Dick Arter.
Clyde was a 1956 graduate of Fremont Ross High School, majoring in Agriculture. He joined the National Guard as soon as he turned 17 and transferred to the Army in 1959, serving as a Staff Sergeant. Clyde did two tours in Germany, where his primary assignment was with the Armored Tank Division, and border duty. He came back for a stateside tour in Fort Knox, KY, to train new recruits. Clyde was honorably discharged on April 5, 1966. Clyde was so very proud to have served his country and could talk for hours with anyone who would listen, while proudly wearing his ARMY Veteran hat. Clyde drove an 18 wheeler hauling truck for 14 years and then sold insurance for A.L. Williams and Primerica Insurance Company until 1996.
Clyde started working for Community Hospice Care of Tiffin in June 1990. He had many jobs with them, including becoming a State Certified Home Health Aid and continued volunteering for 31 years. Clyde also served as Treasurer for the Sandusky County MS Organization in 2001.
Clyde was a lifelong member of the First Brethren Church. He enjoyed worshiping and especially singing all the hymns, which he sang proudly until the day of his death. Clyde's favorite hobby was fishing the rivers for catfish and his favorite fish to eat, bullheads.
Visitation will take place at 9AM on Monday, June 30, 2025 at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, 900 North Street, Fremont, OH. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 10:00AM officiated by Dr. Mike Sweeney. Burial will follow with Military Graveside Rights at McPherson Cemetery in Clyde, OH.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Tiffin or Fremont Chapters of DAV, VFW, American Legions, or a charity of the donor's choice
