Robert Booth Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Farewell Funeral Service - Palm Bluffs on Jan. 8, 2026.
Robert Darrel Booth, age 84, passed away on January 3, 2026, in Clovis, California, where he was a longtime resident.

Robert was born on October 6, 1941, in Heber, Utah, to Harvey Darrel Booth and Roberta Rae Booth (Woolstenhulme). As a young child, Robert and his family moved to Taft, California, where he was raised with his younger siblings, Kevin and Debra. Even though Robert was many years older than his siblings, he always made time for them, creating strong bonds that lasted throughout their adult lives. Robert was very fond of his time in Taft and would often share stories of Taft's history and traditions, regaling those who listened with tales of "The Gusher" and reminiscing about the famous Oildorado Celebrations.

After graduating Taft High School in 1959, Robert was called to serve as a missionary in Stuttgart, Germany in 1961. It was through his service to the people of Stuttgart that he developed a strong connection to the country. As a missionary, Robert was known as a bright, willing, teachable, and persistent young man with a wry sense of humor. Qualities that only grew in his life after his missionary work.

After returning from his mission, Robert's desire to learn led him to California State University, Fresno where two things happened: he earned his Bachelor's Degree in German, and he met the love of his life, Lois (Olsen). Robert and Lois were married for 59 years and together they built a life grounded in faith, commitment, responsibility, and care for one another. Robert was the father of six children of whom he was immensely proud: Darryl Booth, MartiLee Martino, Devin Booth, Roberta Loosli, Stephen Booth, and David Booth. He was also the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren.

Robert devoted his professional life to public service as a Probation Officer for Fresno County, where he worked for 32 years. In that role, he served youth and families with steadiness, fairness, and a strong sense of responsibility, contributing quietly but meaningfully to his community.

Known as a devoted, principled, and steady man, Robert carried himself with seriousness and purpose. An Eagle Scout and long-time scouting volunteer, Robert valued responsibility, consistency, and quiet dedication to God and country. He enjoyed photography, fishing, and music; all pursuits that reflected his patience and attentiveness. He was also known to enjoy a good comic strip, and would often mail his children clippings he found funny.

Family history was more than a hobby to Robert; it was a passion. Robert was a collector of old family photos, momentos, and newspaper clippings and was always excited to share the history behind each item with incredible detail. He was a beacon of knowledge and his love and pride for his family, both past and present, was evident to anyone who had the privilege to learn from him.

Robert was deeply devoted to his faith and fulfilled many callings within his church. He spent many hours serving as Ward Clerk, as Counselor to the High Priests Group Leader, and as a specialist in the Employment Resource Center. Robert was known as a steady and caring Ministering Brother, who connected meaningfully with the families he visited.

Robert's steady presence and quiet love for those around him will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, January 24th at 11:00 am with a viewing Friday, January 23rd from 5:00-7:00 pm. Both will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1880 Gettysburg Ave in Clovis.

I had the pleasure of working with brother Booth in Fresno working Probation. He kind of thru me into the fire working thousands of Files that needed to be Alphabetized and had to learn quick which files I found info on to further investigate. I Graduated From Fresno State with a Criminology Degree and worked with brother Booth. I then worked with Juveniles at Juvenile Hall. I first met Brother Booth at church as a young kid. He told me straighten up or you´re going to Jail! lol. He had a very Dry sense of humor but you knew where you stood with him. My thoughts and Prayers go out to all of his Family and Friends and Co Workers. RIP Bob. God bless. Mike Kunz
