Robert S. Bradt, a cherished member of the Bradenton community, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, at the age of 89. He was born on October 16, 1936, in Schenectady, New York, to Stanley and Veronica Bradt, who preceded him in death alongside his brother, Ronald Bradt. He was also predeceased by his wives Norma Bradt and Diane Bradt.
Robert dedicated a significant portion of his life to serving his country as a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S . Army and retired from the Watervliet Arsenal in Watervliet, New York. He was known for his many passions and talents, which included serving as a Deacon at Cobblestone Reformed Church. Robert was a devoted member of the Gulf Lakes Singing Men's Choir in Florida, where his love for music shone brightly. His enthusiasm for life extended beyond his faith and music; he was an avid golfer, enjoyed participating in bass fishing tournaments, showcased his skills as a master fly-tying instructor, and cherished time spent hunting, lawn bowling, and shuffling. Robert was also an enthusiastic card player, often engaging in friendly competitions with family and friends.
Robert leaves behind a loving family which includes his sister, Rosemary Zongrone of Voorheesville; sons, Robert J. (Amanda) Bradt of Skaneateles and James M. (Johnnie) Bradt of Huntsville, Alabama; his step-son, David Anderson of Palm Springs, California; daughter, Linda J. Bradt of Nashville, Tenesee. He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren and a great-grandfather to one great-grandchild. In addition to his immediate family, Robert is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, who will remember him fondly for his warmth, kindness, and spirited personality.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, New York. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 PM
The legacy of Robert S. Bradt will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, and his contributions to his family and community will be deeply missed.
