Robert Brady Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 4, 2025.
Robert "Bob" Brady, 92, of York, died August 1st, 2025 at his home surrounded by family.

Shortly after graduating from York Catholic High School, Bob applied for a job at Lyon Metal Products. While sitting in the waiting room for an interview, he noticed some posters on the wall that touted that Lyon promoted from within. Enough said. Even before he enlisted in the U.S. Army Security Agency, he could tell he would move up the ladder. After an Honorable Discharge, he was promoted to Chief Clerk of General Sales at Lyon. In 1961 his transfer to the home office in Aurora, IL moved his young family to the Midwest, where they spent over 30 years, with many trips back to York during that time. He was appointed Vice President of the Paltier Division of Lyon prior to his retirement in 1998.

Bob was an avid golfer and twice had a hole-in-one. He also was one of the founders of the Michiana Senior Golf Association.

Bob and Nancy, his wife (recently deceased), celebrated 71 years of marriage in 2024. Bob and Nan were born and raised in York, but lived many years in the Midwest, most recently in Michigan City, IN up to 2015.

Bob was predeceased by his wife, Nancy and his son, Edward Brady (partner Susan Hawks). Bob is survived by three children, Joanna Koch, husband Greg; Kevin Brady, wife Adrienne; Kathleen Phillips, husband Greg; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild.

A celebratory mass for both Bob and Nancy Brady will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 2935 Kingston Rd, York, PA on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 11 a.m. with visitation prior to the mass starting at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Fort Indiantown Gap Cemetery at the discretion of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 2935 Kingston Rd., York, PA, 17402 or the Kaltreider-Benfer Library, 124 S. Charles St., Red Lion, PA, 17356.
