Robert Brannon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stewart Family Funeral Home - Tyler on Jan. 19, 2026.
Mr. Brannon passed away January 12, 2026, while traveling the world in Aswan, Egypt. He was born April 24, 1948 in Frederick, Oklahoma to Charles and Doris Brannon.

He is survived by his loving family: his wife, Karen Brannon; his children, Stacy Cobb and husband, Steven, Robert Brannon Jr. and his wife, Shantelle, Kristen Nguyen and husband, Trung Nguyen, and Matthew Montgomery and wife, L'Rynda; and his eight grandchildren, Ashley and Aaron Nguyen, Kaplynn, Wrenley, and Ember Montgomery, Jeremy and Lenny Cobb, and Zach Brasier. He is also survived by his sister, Doris Martin and husband, Hugh, multiple nieces and nephews, and his beloved labrador mix, Marley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Doris Brannon and his brother,

Charlie Brannon.

Robert proudly served in the United States Navy, both on active duty and in the reserves, with the rank of First-Class Petty Officer. During his military service, he earned a Master of Education in 1987 from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma. He served as assistant director of a MAVCC, a 13-state curriculum consortium. He later retired as a college administrator. He enjoyed traveling, reading, playing pool and golf with his friends, and watching his old westerns.

Robert was a faithful member of Church of the Pines in Tyler and formerly a member of Lakepoint Church in Rockwall.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Montgomery, Trung Nguyen, Aaron Nguyen, Bryan Cash, Dennis Cash and Bruce Kirkland.

His greatest desire was that his family and those he loved would come to know the Lord and spend eternity with him in heaven.

If desired, memorials may be made to Church of the Pines.
