Leon Tyrone (Terry) Chaffin was born in Atlanta, Georgia to John A Chaffin and Marion (Frances) Gabriel Chaffin.

Terry graduated from North Miami High School in 1962 and graduated from Central State University in Edmond in 1975 with a bachelor's degree in Art.

On September 27, 1965, he married Ruth Ann Harmon (the love of his life) in Honolulu, Hawaii where he was stationed at Pearl Harbor.

Terry joined the Navy in January 1964 and was stationed on the USS Benjamin Stoddert as a Yeoman. While on the Stoddert he served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. He received an Honorable Discharge in December 1967.

Terry worked as a Draftsman and retired from Dolese in 2000.

Terry accepted Jesus as his savior at a young age. As an adult he and his wife taught Sunday School and were in the choir at First Southern Baptist Church in Del City and First Baptist Church in Moore. After entering the Veterans Center in Norman, he attended church there with his wife Ruth Ann.

Terry passed away February 12, 2026, after a brief illness. During his final days he still loved having his wife nearby. As she was leaving one day, he said he needed help. When she asked what he needed, he said he needed "kisses, kisses, kisses."

Tery and Ruth Ann had no children, but their niece and 2 nephews were treated like they were their children. He loved them as if they were his own.

Terry was proceeded in death by his parents John A Chaffin and Marion (Francis) Gabriel Chaffin, and his brother Norman A. Chaffin. Terry is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Chaffin, brother and sister – in- law Boyd and Joyce Murphy, niece Heather McCall and husband Jones McCall, nephew Brent Chaffin and wife Cynthia Chaffin, nephew Colin Murphy and wife Jillian Murphy, 3 great nieces Morgan McCall, Margo and Merrick Murphy and 1 great nephew Logan McCall.
