Robert Benjamin Braswell, Age 87, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness, with his wife Teresa by his side, on January 22, 2026. Robert was born on August 25, 1938, to Benjamin and Mary Merritt Braswell. Robert was a devoted member of Tired Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Robert and Teresa's lives became so complete and fruitful the very day they joined that sweet church together and were baptized together. When Robert's health started failing, he pushed himself to go to church on Sundays as he loved hearing The Truth preached and loved every Primitive Baptist preacher that preached.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Rehberg Braswell, children Robert Braswell, Jr., Joan Braswell, and Stewart Braswell, all of Thomasville. He also leaves behind his special stepchildren, Melissa Stringer of Thomasville, and Phil Chastain of Monticello, Florida, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and brother-in-law Charles Rehberg and sister-in-law Donna Bookerd, as well as a very special friend, John Adam Wise, who was more like a son to Robert than a friend.
The family would like to give special thanks to the hospice family, Ashley, Arial, and Rachel. Also, special thanks to Austin Mixon for all of his help in their time of need, as well as our four Primitive Baptist Churches for their outpouring of love, visits, calls, and prayers.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Ochlocknee City Cemetery with Pastor Jon Mizell officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Georgia Hospice Care at 303 E Shotwell St., Bainbridge, Georgia 39819.
