Robert David Brown, known affectionately to friends and family as Dave, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, in Sun City, Arizona. Born in Aberdeen, Washington, on May 14, 1935, Dave's journey through life was marked by an unwavering spirit of strength, kindness and joy that touched everyone he met. He is remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose legacy of love and warmth will forever resonate with his family. Dave graduated from Montesano High School in Washington state, where he was a star athlete. He led his basketball team to the state tournament and earned all-state football honors. He was an exceptional football player while in the Army and later was invited to try out for an NFL football team. His passion for sports translated into a lifelong love for golf, where at one point, he achieved an impressive 3 handicap. The highlight of his golfing career was shooting a 5 under par 67 at Snohomish Golf Course, a memory cherished by all who heard the tale. After high school, Dave dedicated years of service as a sales representative in the truck tire industry. His work ethic and friendly demeanor made him a respected figure in his field. In his later years, Dave continued to share his love for golf by working at the Sun City golf courses until the age of 87, where he was not only a staff member but also a mentor and friend to many who remember Dave on the range helping them with their golf swing. Dave for 46 years was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous. It was here that he found God, who provided him with strength guidance and sobriety for the rest of his life. His relationship with God was reflected in the way he lived his life with love and compassion for all. Besides his professional and athletic achievements, Dave was an avid fisherman, with countless stories as a young man of catching trophy steelhead trout in the rivers of the Olympic Peninsula. Later in life he enjoyed catching large rainbows in the lakes of British Columbia. These tales of adventure were among his favorite to recount. Dave's character was the epitome of friendliness, love, and kindness. He approached life with a smile that could light up a room and a heart that embraced everyone as a friend. His presence was a source of comfort and happiness to those around him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jill Brown, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring love story for 28 years. His two sons, Jeffrey and Gregory, inherited their father's strength of character and spirit of generosity. Dave was a cherished grandfather to Jenny Brown, Bobby Brown (Amy), Renee (Kevin) Knutsen, Andrew (Nicole) Brown, Alex (Allie) Brown and Chris (Bri) Brown, and a proud great-grandfather to 11 great- grandchildren. Each of them carries a piece of Dave's legacy forward.
Dave's life was a testament to the power of positivity and the impact one individual can have on the lives of many. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we celebrate the memories he leaves behind and the countless ways he enriched our lives. His story does not end with his passing but continues in the lives of those he loved and the community he served.
