Robert Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Miller & Hill The Funeral Directors - Alexandria on Feb. 2, 2026.
THE LIFE & LEGACY

Robert Allen Brown

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5

Robert "Bob" Allen Brown was born on June 9, 1965, the beloved and devoted son of the late Walter M. and Mary L. Paul Brown. He passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife, daughter, and family friend.

Robert "Bob" received his elementary education and his secondary education in the Avoyelles Parish School System. After graduating from Simmesport High School in 1984, he enrolled at Avoyelles Vocational Technical School in Cottonport, LA where he studied electrician technology. He entered the workforce working on the construction and building of Avoyelles Correctional Center in Cottonport, LA. Afterwards, he moved to Houston, TX where he was employed at Overnight Freight Inc. which later changed to United Parcel Service (UPS). After 31 years of service, he retired in that capacity.

Robert "Bob" accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Greater New Bethel Baptist Church in Simmesport, LA. After relocating to Texas, he later became a faithful member of New Mount Calvary Baptist Church – The Evolution Church in Houston, TX, under the auspices of Pastor Christopher C. Moore. He was a faithful and devoted member until our heavenly Father called him home.

On June 9, 1990, he was united in marriage to Annie Mae Green and they remained married for the next 35 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle, and friend. His greatest joy came from nurturing and spending time with his family, his faithful wife, his late son, Robert Morgan Brown (RJ), the apple of his eyes, baby girl Brandi "Booda", and PawPaw to Omari. How he anchored our family gatherings in the backyard at Madea's will never be forgotten. He had an immense passion for barbecuing, boiling crawfish, and listening to country music. He had such a kind heart, always ready to help others with a gentle and caring spirit. His kindness reached everyone he met. He never left without making someone smile or laugh. We will forever remember his love, hugs, warmth, and his ability to find peace in the smallest things.

Robert "Bob" leaves to cherish his memory: wife Annie Mae of 35 years; one daughter, Brandi Brown (his Booda) of Houston, TX; one grandchild Omari Brown of Cottonport, LA; one sister, Linda F. LaCour (Donald) of Dallas, TX; one brother, Myron K. Brown (Wanda) of Simmesport, LA; three nieces, Deniqua Hill (Chris) of Dallas, TX; Kayla DeJohnette (Dallas) of Texas City, TX and Jasmine Green of Houston, TX; three nephews, Bryan J. DeJohnette of Texas City, TX, Steven R. Green, of San Antino, TX and Jarrod O. Brown of Simmesport, LA; three brother in-laws, Alcides DeJohnette of Texas, City; Donald LaCour of Dallas, TX and Steven Green (Angela) of Live Oak, TX; mother in-law, Melvina Green "Moms" of Simmesport, LA; one Godmother, Stephanie Wright of Houston, TX; three Godchildren, Damingo Cooper, B'Lon Compton and Jasmine Allen; the Tompkins Family; very special friends, Donnie & Eunice Marie Compton; other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

We thank God for the life of Robert "Bob", for all the lives that he has touched and the memories that he has left. He was a true brother and a cherished part of our lives. We pray that God will comfort our family, his friends, and his church family as we prepare to move forward without his unforgettable presence.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kiara Shanice Brown, son, father, mother, sister, aunts, uncles, other family members, many church members, and friends.
