Robert Bruehl Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Poole Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Woodstock on Jan. 14, 2026.
Robert Anthony (Tony) Bruehl, 82, of Woodstock, Georgia, died peacefully in his home on 10 January, 2026.

Tony was born 14 December, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan, to Dr. Richard Bruehl and Alice Bruehl (nee Rogers). He was recruited to attend Cass Technical High School – a notably prestigious High School known for academic rigor and excellence.

Tony received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 1966, followed by a Master of Urban Planning degree from Wayne State University, Detroit, in 1970.

Tony served as an employee of the State of Georgia for 32 years: 10 years at Georgia State University, and from 1986 – 2008 (at retirement) held the position of Director, Facilities Management for the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG). TCSG oversees the state's technical colleges, adult literacy programs, and a host of economic and workforce development programs administered through 22 state-wide institutions.

One notable project in which Tony was actively involved, and supported Georgia's economic and workforce development programs, was the construction of the Kia Motors Training Facility in LaGrange, Georgia.

Tony is survived by his wife, Dr. Tanya Gorman; Sister Barbara Bruehl Foster; Nephews Robert Earl Foster (Michelle Tavares Foster) of Austin, Texas, and Dr. Ethan Bruehl Foster

(Chris) of Fargo, North Dakota; Grand-nephews Max Tavares Foster and Alex Carlos Foster, both of Austin, Texas. Tony was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Erik Foster.

Tony was loved, and will be remembered, for his kindness, generosity, dry wit, love of golf, and Mountain Cove – his beloved cabin in the North Georgia mountains. He died with his "best fur-buddy" Nixon providing love and warmth across his chest.
