Robert Bufano
March 24, 1953 – October 9, 2025
Robert Bufano, 72, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on October 9, 2025.
Born on March 24, 1953, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Bob was one of three sons of the late Anthony Francis and Anne Marie Scioscia Bufano. The family moved from Scranton to New Jersey and Memphis before settling in Maryland. Bob earned a degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Maryland and later received his MBA in Finance from Loyola University.
Bob was a man of many talents, energy, and passions. After college, he began his career as a process chemist at Becton Dickinson in Hunt Valley, Maryland. Driven by his entrepreneurial spirit, he later purchased Angelina's, a beloved Baltimore City restaurant. Under Bob's ownership, Angelina's became famous for its award-winning crab cakes, gracing the cover of Baltimore Magazine several times. Bob and his wife, Sue, were among the first to champion and feature Maryland crab meat, attracting guests from near and far who came for both the exceptional food and the warm, welcoming atmosphere.
A true Baltimorean at heart, Bob was an enthusiastic Ravens fan and an extraordinary cook who loved nothing more than sharing a good meal with family and friends.
After 18 successful years, Bob sold Angelina's and began a new chapter as a financial planner with Smith Barney. His sharp analytical mind, meticulous attention to detail, and genuine care for others made him deeply respected by his clients, colleagues, and loved ones alike.
An avid golfer, Bob was proud to have achieved an impressive four holes-in-one over the years. He was a member and board member at Indian River Club in Vero Beach and a former member of Hunt Valley Golf and Country Club, where he once earned the title of Club Champion.
Deeply committed to his community, Bob served as a member of the Kiwanis Club of Baltimore and spent 12 years as director of the Baltimore Science Fair-an event that reflected his lifelong love of learning and science.
Bob cherished time spent at his beach home in Fenwick Island, Delaware, where he enjoyed the peaceful water views, rounds of golf, and visits with family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved partner, Rosemarie Johnson of Vero Beach and Baltimore; his daughter, Alexis Hearth of Austin, Texas; his brother, Thomas Bufano and wife Pilar, of Floyd, Virginia; and his sister-in-law, Lynn Bufano of Baltimore, Maryland. He was predeceased by his wife, Susan Bajackson Bufano, and his brother, Donald Bufano. Bob also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, Rosemarie's extended family, and countless cherished friends.
A Memorial and Receiving of Friends will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Ruck Towson Funeral Home in Maryland. Those who wish to share a few words or memories are warmly invited to do so at that time.
