Robert Frank Buresh, 96, passed away peacefully in Fremont on January 19, 2025, with family by his side, including Bernadine, his loving wife of 71 years. Bob will be fondly remembered as a devoted family man, a devout Catholic, a respected local business owner, and a dedicated community volunteer.

Bob was born on December 16, 1928 in Howells, NE to Adolph and Barbara (Pojar) Buresh. He grew up on the 160-acre family farm outside of Howells where they raised chickens, hogs, goats, and milking cows. At Howells High School, Bob played basketball, performed in school plays, sang in the chorus, and played trombone. He also played baseball for the American Legion and Howells town teams. Bob proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1950 to 1952, during the Korean War.

In 1952, he met Bernadine Weimann at the Music Box Dance Hall in Omaha. They married on June 27, 1953 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont and moved there in 1954. Soon after they welcomed the first of their seven children. Bob went to work for Bernadine's father, Albert, at Weimann's Bar, buying the business in 1973. In 1986, he started Bob's Trophies, running it from the bar for a year before remodeling the space and operating the shop full time. He retired in 1992.

Bob was always happiest when he was active. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont, a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a former member of the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, Fremont Board of Realtors, Izaak Walton League of America, Fremont Merchants Association, and a past president of the Fremont Noon Optimist Club and the Archbishop Bergan Home and School Association. He officiated area high school basketball and football games, coached 6th to 9th grade baseball teams, and was a committee member of Boy Scout Troop #106.

He and Bernadine also enjoyed travelling to visit their children and grandchildren, never missing a high school graduation. In 1996, they took a heritage trip to Rychnov nad Knezou in the Czech Republic to visit family and tour the site where Bob's great-great grandfather was born.

Bob leaves behind his wife Bernadine Weimann Buresh, his sister Arline Jirsak, and his children, Diane (Tony) Pollock, Cheryl (L. Joe) Dickmeyer, Daniel (Nanette) Buresh, Paul (Jana) Buresh, Keith Buresh and Laurel Hoitsma, Mary Buresh and Tom Jelinek, and Dale (Krista) Buresh. He also leaves his loving grandchildren, Bryce (Jodi) Dickmeyer, Nicole Dickmeyer and Robert Fisher, Erica (Tyler) Ketchem, Christopher (Mandy) Buresh, Heather Buresh, Casey Buresh and Megan McKillip, Kory Buresh, Kyle (Cynthia) Buresh, Holly Buresh and Michael Dodd, Sammi Buresh, Ronni Buresh and Jason Munro, Zane Buresh, Michael Jelinek, Marilyn (Dustin) John, Rose Buresh and Riley Anderson, and Gage Buresh. He will also be missed by his great-grandchildren, Bridget, Lily, Ava, Thomas, Elliot, Clara, Rachel, Adam, Avery, Aniston, Beau, Sage, Myla, and Magnolia, due next month. Bob was predeceased by his siblings Marvine Dvorak, Leonard Buresh, and Clarence Buresh.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 26 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with a Knights of Columbus Living Rosary said at 7:00 p.m. following the visitation. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Monday, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont. Luncheon to follow at St. Patrick's Delaney Hall.
