Robert H. Butow, 81 of Palmer Twp. passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024 in Easton, PA after a long illness. Born on February 24, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Irving John and Ellen (Leibsohn) Butow.
He graduated from Easton Area High School, class of 1961 and earned his Bachelor of Architecture from West Virginia University. He retired as an architect from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and was the owner of September Millwork in Catasauqua, PA. He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Lehigh Valley and the Northampton County Historical & Genealogical Society where he was instrumental in the restoration and preservation of both the Jacob Nicholas House and the Bachmann Publick House, both located in Easton.
Robert enjoyed working with his hands whether it was cooking, wood working, historical restoration, custom building, or tinkering on cars. An avid car enthusiast, he spent much of his youth working on and racing his cars in Watkins Glen, NY.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Nancy (Summerill) Butow; son, John Butow, and wife, Karen of Malvern, PA; daughter, Megan Butow and husband, Tim Jacobs, of Norwell, MA; brother, Steven Butow and partner, Angel Nunez of Grahamsville, NY; and five grandchildren Evan, Henry, Calvin, Madeline and Jack.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Edith "DeDe" Rose of Cleveland, Ohio.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp.).
Memorial contributions may be made in Robert's name to Northampton County Historical & Genealogical Society (NCHGS), 342 Northampton St., Easton, PA 18042.
