Robert Dwayne "Bones" Buxton, 60 years old, beloved husband, son, father, and pappy, was called to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He entered this world on July 26, 1964, born to Mary and John Buxton, in Zachary, LA. He was a passionate hunter and an amazing cook; he was known for his love of the outdoors and cherished his time spent with his family at the deer camp. His compassion and caring nature were evident in everything he did, especially the way he adored his wife and grandbabies.
Dwayne's compassion extended beyond his family to his greater community, reflecting his generous spirit. He was deeply committed to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children and catastrophically injured veterans and first responders.
Dwayne is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Gwen Buxton; daughters, Natalie Cowart (Luke), Dara Nolan (Everett), Lindsey Kling, Jessica Kling; a son, Daniel Kling (Charlotte); grandchildren, Colton Cowart, Macy Cowart, Paxton Cowart, Josie Cowart, Campton Cowart, Charley Nolan, Ashlyn Kling, Devan Ellis, Jaci Ellis, Drew Ellis, Kelsey Montgomery, Dalton Saucier, Daylan Kling, Cole Kling, Shaun Kling, and Haidyn Kling; and great-grandchildren, Greyson, Layne, Jayce, and Aris; brothers, John Lynn Buxton (Toni), Steven Lee Buxton (Lisa), Darran Randall Buxton (Tracy); a sister, Darlene Hendrickson (Randy); and a host of nieces and nephews.
Dwayne is preceded in death by his father, John T. Buxton.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The visitation will continue at Baker Funeral Home, on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 2:00 PM, officiated by Bro. Danny Grieg. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, in Baker, Louisiana.
