Robert Dean "Bob" Canter, age 84, passed away late Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Adena Medical Center in Chillicothe. He was born July 16, 1940, in Blackfork, Ohio to the late Charles "Chalk" and Nora (Roof) Canter.
Bob was a 1958 graduate of Oak Hill High School. He worked at Plibrico Company, where he retired after 39 years.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dian (Whitlatch) Canter; one son, Charles Dean (Paula) Canter; granddaughter, Tabitha Canter (Nolan) Fast; and one great granddaughter, Gwendolyn Ivy Fast, who always made him smile. Also surviving are two sisters, Vickie (John) Childers and Kathy Adkins; two brothers-in-law, Kenny Gray and Clyde Whitlatch; nephews, Kevin Gray, Mark Gray, and Chad Snyder; nieces, Lori Petrocelli and Tara (Travis) Stickley.
In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his brother, Jack Canter, and sister Charlotte "Annie" Gray.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024, from 12-2 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home in Oak Hill. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 with Pastor Stan Howard officiating. Burial will follow in C.M. Cemetery.
