I always appreciated Bob's friendliness and his desire to continue learning (he would often share his frustrations with tensors and Mathematica with me, but he kept at it).
Bob was also always very encouraging to me in the time I've been a math professor at Bethel...always interested in what I was doing and saying things like "we've always needed an analyst (mathematical) here at Bethel"...basically meaning someone whose primary teaching and research interests are related to calculus, differential equations, and related higher-level courses like "Real Analysis".
I've got a copy of a text Bob wrote on differential equations in my office if anyone ever wants to take a look at it. Just let me know. (I'm not sure if he had any other copies lying around somewhere).
I will miss Bob very much.

Judy,
RA was a special and unique character, in the very best sense of the word. I will miss our conversations in the hallways at church, which were often very technical in nature, always made me think, and almost always revolved around whatever his current project was all about. I hope your memories will be just as heartwarming!

Though many never had him as a professor, they still knew him well. His presence will be missed in the Bethel Physics Lab.

Dear Judy and family,
You are all in my prayers at this time of your loss. It is so hard to say goodby to a loved one. How wonderful to know that we will see them again someday in heaven. In the words of a favorite old hymn. "When we all get to heaven what a day of rejoicing that will be, when we all see Jesus we will sing and shout the victory". I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, may God be very near to you and give you comfort and peace.
Love,
Judi
