Robert "Bucky" Carota Sr.

FORT EDWARD - Robert "Bucky" Carota Sr., 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 9, 2026, at the Granville Center in Granville, N.Y.

Born on July 19, 1938, in Glens Falls, N.Y., he was the son of the late Patrick and Gladys (Belden) Carota.

He graduated from Hudson Falls High School with the class of 1956. It is of note that he excelled in many sports. He achieved a "5 Letterman Status", having played 5 varsity sports in one year.

Robert married his wife and the love of his life, Sally (Cronkhite) Carota, in 1958.

His work ethic reflected in his tenacity and masterful skills. Construction and masonry were strong themes throughout his employment and was a member of the Bricklayers association. Over the years Robert created a legacy, brick by brick of his outstanding masonry workmanship that you can still see standing to this day throughout the area.

Eventually he branched out and started his own company, R & S Construction. Bucky's latest job was as a supervisor of maintenance at Finch Pruyn & Company in Glens Falls.

Aside from his employment, he was a man of faith. St Paul's Church was his chosen congregation.

When he was 22, he built his first home where he could raise a family with his loving wife. As the family grew to six children, he then built a larger home on 1 Stephan Drive, the memories made will be held close by all. He spent some time living in South Carolina, where he was able to spend cherished time with his daughters and grandchildren.

He also had a passion for cooking and food. Coveting his Italian VILLA bread and Provolone cheese that his brother Dick would import in from Italy as a Christmas gift every year. He loved this cheese.

Besides his parents, Robert was also predeceased by his siblings, Anne Rabine and Richard Carota; his son, John Carota; and his grandson, Robert "Buddy" Carota III.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 68 years, Sally Carota; their children, Diane (Mark) Dickson (Mt. Pleasant S.C.), Karen Dejong (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.), Katherine (Ken) Nagel (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.), Beth Carota, (Tryon, N.C.) and Robert Carota II, (N.Y.). His grandchildren, Amber (Nick) Durrin (South Glens Falls) Alyssa Carota (N.Y.), Jacob (Lauren) Carota (Greenville, S.C.), Katie Dickson (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) and Meghan Lomonoco Carroll, (Virginia) as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at St Mary's St. Paul's Church, 11 Wall St, Hudson Falls, NY 12839.

A right of committal will be announced in the Spring.
