Robert Carpenter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Albert & Burpee Funeral & Cremation Services on Feb. 3, 2026.
AUBURN-Robert F. Carpenter, 83, passed away on January 29, 2026 at Andwell Hospice House. Robert "Bob", lived a life full of love, adventure, and creativity. From an early age he was devoted to doing the things he loved and was always seeking out new experiences where he could find them.

Bob was born on December 14, 1943 the son of Phebe (Sessions) and Edward Carpenter. After graduating high school in Utah, Bob sought off the Army where he served 4 years, and went to proudly serve his country in Vietnam.

After the Army, Bob worked many jobs including working in the mines in Mexico. He owned a car repair shop where he specialized in foreign cars. Then he finally landed at Vandenberg AFB, for 25 years where he was a A/C Heating Mechanic supervisor teaching young Airmen his knowledge and craft. Bob had many talents that included; plumbing, carpentry and electrical. Through these years he met his wife, Dolores "Dee" Carpenter, both working for the Department of Defense. The two shared 28 beautiful years of travel and business adventures together. Later together they owned their own dartboard company called Playmore Darts, which then led them opening a bar together called Scoreboard Tavern. For 4 years they sheltered many memories of dancing, dart playing and socialization. While Bob was private, he found happiness in getting to know strangers. In between the busy days Bob and Dolores shared many adventures, traveling around in Bob's Ford Focus.

In his free time he found joy in polishing stones. When he lived in Nevada he would walk down to the Colorado River and collect stones. He also enjoyed doing different types of puzzles with his sister, Irma. And making ornaments out of beads with his mother. Bob was an avid animal lover. Over the years he and Dolores shared four dogs, two cats, and a green parrot who absolutely loved him. Bob left behind two of his loving dogs Toby, who would always be by his side, and Peewee, his beloved schnauzer who shared a birthday with him.

Bob is survived by his wife Dolores Carpenter, his two sons Robert Carpenter and Ronnie Carpenter, his daughter Annette, and stepson Rick Moffett. He had 5 grandchildren as well as six great grandkids.

Condolences and fond memories may be shared here with family and friends on Bob's tribute page.
