Robert H. Carrier

Robert Harding Carrier, age 88, has gone West. Bob was born in New Bedford, MA on March 28, 1937, to parents Harding and Felicia (Wojtunik) Carrier. He lived in Manchester his whole life and was a graduate of Hartford Technical College. Bob served in the Air National Guard for eight years, learning to fly in his early 20's, and carried his love of flying into a 37-year career with the Aeronautics Division of Connecticut DOT, retiring as the Chief Executive Officer. He also belonged to the Connecticut Valley Flyers and the Hartford Hanger of the Quiet Birdman.

Bob was very proud of his Buick 1965 Riviera Gran Sport which he owned for 52 years, he took it to car shows such as Cruisin' on Main Street, and the annual Yankee Chapter Buick Car Show where he won awards. He was also a very talented woodworker, enjoying the craft in his spare time. Bob and his loving wife Emily enjoyed wintering in Sarasota, FL for the last 20 years, and loved spending time with their family.

Bob is survived by his wife and partner of over 40 years, Emily Nugent (Mokriski) Carrier; his two daughters, Donna Troiano (Tony) of Winchester, MA, Shelly Antinelli (Stephen) of Manhattan, MT, and a son Michael Carrier (Erika Berglund) of Durango, CO; three step-daughters, Emmy Vickers (Richard), Sarah Barry (Paul) and Rebecca LeCompte (Anthony); nine grandchildren; sister, Louise Panella (George) of South Windsor; brother David Carrier (Leslie) of Scappoose, OR, and his first wife Phyllis Crepon Carrier. Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by two brothers, Donald and Richard.

John F. Tierney Funeral Home has care of the arrangements, which will take place later in the Spring. Bob lost his eyesight due to Macular Degeneration and wishes for memorial contributions to be made to the CT Library for Accessible Books, 786 Main Street, Middletown, CT 06457.
