Robert M Carroll passed away peacefully at home on November 24, 2023. He was born in Dover, Ohio on October 3, 1926. The family then moved to Butler, Pennsylvania until his early teens then moved to Birmingham, Alabama where he attended Endsley High School and he and his sister Jean walked to school everyday rain or snow uphill both ways and barefoot. He attended Swanee college for a degree in engineering and worked for the Dept of Transportation for 30 years. His favorite things in life were family and sports, especially college football.
He was a Pro Am golfer in his early adult years so you could always find him on the golf course. Religion was always important in his life and attended Killen Church of Christ for years. He was in the special armed forces in WW2. He had a long and productive life and was loved dearly by all his family and friends. He was born to A C Carroll and Willie Eloise Carroll and had one sister whom he loved dearly Jean Carroll Holliman whom he preceded in death. He had two children with Janice O'Neal Carroll (divorced). He later met and married Ruth Herston and was married for 59 years. He has a daughter, Leslie Miller (Paul) of Jacksonville, Florida, son, Joe Carroll (Wendy) of Killen, Alabama; grandchildren, Dena, Clay, Joe E, J.T.; great grandchildren, Kylie, Aliyah, Charlie, Eli, Olivia; 3 nieces, Dawn, Paige, Leigh Ann.
Visitation will be held at Elkins East Funeral Home in Killen on December 6th, 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Funeral service at 12:00 PM in the chapel with Bro. Stan Dean officiating. Burial will be held at Tri Cities Memorial Gardens in Florence.
