Guest Book
In loving memory of Mitch Carter, whose spirit shone brightly among us, illuminating the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Born on Sunday, December 8, 1940, in Rutherford County, TN, Mitch danced through life with a heart full of joy and an outlook that radiated positivity. He departed this world on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, surrounded by the comforting embrace of his favorite place, his River House, where he found solace and serenity; it was there that he blissfully transitioned to his heavenly home.
Mitch was not just a name in our community; he was a beacon of kindness and encouragement, a gentle soul whose laughter echoed through the halls of Moore Studio, the beloved establishment he owned for many years. His commitment to uplifting those around him made a significant impact, as he passionately advocated for the development and vibrancy of downtown Jackson, TN. His legacy is intricately woven into the fabric of the town he cherished and nurtured. He faithfully served as the official photographer of the Miss Tennessee Pageant for many, many years.
Those who knew him are left with an abundance of cherished memories—moments filled with laughter, warmth, and happiness. Mitch was a proud father and grandfather, survived by his beloved son, Robert Carter, Jr.; daughter, Mitzi Michaelson (Rick); brothers, Ken, Don, and Cleve Carter; sister, Ann Miller; and granddaughter, Ellie Michaelson. Mitch's spirit will continue to thrive through his family, who carry forth his legacy of kindness and joy.
Mitch's late brother Ray Carter, and his parents, Aubrey Carter and Mattie Louise Summers Carter, welcomed him into their heavenly fold, a reunion of love that brings comfort to those left behind.
The community mourns the loss of such an expansive presence. His life testament to happiness, kindness, and encouragement—will forever resonate in our hearts.
