Robert Gene Cartwright was born October 1, 1969 to Gaylord Cartwright and Dorothy Carter Cartwright in Spring Valley, Illinois. He passed away Friday, January 26, 2024 in Mercy Hospital, Lebanon, at the age of fifty-four years, three months and twenty-five days.
Early in his life, he moved with his family to Poplar Bluff, Missouri where he attended school. In 1995, he relocated to Lebanon, Missouri. He was an Over-the-Road Truck Driver and later became a trainer for truck drivers.
On April 6, 1996, he was united in marriage to Joan Toops and together they raised their six children.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his Grandma and Grandpa Carter; Aunt Mary and Uncle Jim; his sister, Tina Skaggs; his sister-in-law Brandy Toops; and his mother-in-law Kathryn Gitoel.
He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-seven years, Joan Cartwright of the home in Lebanon, Missouri; his six children, Eric Hawkins and his wife Megan of Springfield, Missouri, Shannon Hawkins of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Kenneth Cartwright and his wife, Janessa of Stoutland, Missouri, James Cartwright and his significant other Kathryne Davis of Lebanon, Missouri, Tiffany Cartwright and her husband Weston Hart of Lebanon, Missouri, Florance Cartwright of Lebanon, Missouri; his grandchildren, Nolan Hawkins, Sara Cartwright, Owen Cartwright, Jordyn Cartwright, Jane Cartwright, Remington Cartwright, Taysom Cartwright, Riley Cartwright, Paisley Cartwright, Maggie Hawkins and Raya Cartwright; his brother, Roger Cartwright of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; his sister, Trina Williams of Lebanon, Missouri; his sister-in-law Florance Cline; his best friend, John Garrett, Sr. and his wife Tina; a friend, Amy Bennett; and many nieces and nephews.
Robert enjoyed watching football and baseball games on television and was a devoted Chicago Cubs fan.
He loved spending time with his family and especially looked forward to playing with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing video games.
Robert was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
