Robert "Bob" Keith Catt, 84, of
Oblong, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 6:15 PM at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana.
Bob was born on May 16, 1940, in Hardinville, Illinois, to Irvin Catt and Lillie Mae (Leeds) Catt. He was a 1958 graduate of Oblong High School and later attended barber school in Decatur, Illinois, where he earned an associate degree. On June 13, 1992, he married Sherry Michl in
Oblong, Illinois, and together they built a life filled with love and cherished memories.
Bob worked as a barber for a few years before going to work at Marathon Oil Refinery. After retirement out of the Marathon electric shop he worked as an NTL Boilermaker for a number of years, then stayed active mowing lawns throughout Crawford County, Illinois, a task he truly enjoyed.
A proud veteran, Bob served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Lofberg Destroyer. He was a devoted member of several organizations, including the Robinson American Legion Post #69, VFW Post #4549 in Robinson, Illinois, Robinson Elks Lodge #1188, and the Ruritan Club in
Oblong, Illinois.
Bob had a passion for auto racing, enjoyed cooking fish at family fish fries, and spent many winters traveling to Florida. He was also an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. For anyone who knew Bob, you can attest that he loved to talk and never knew a stranger.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sherry Michl-Catt of
Oblong, Illinois; his children, Barry (Diana) Catt of Mooresville, Indiana, Bradley Catt of Edinburg, Virginia, Lori (Eric) Eubank of Willow Hill, Illinois, Lisa (Charlie) Pinkston of
Oblong, Illinois, and Lynis (Ken Pollard) Michl of Coolidge, Arizona. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and his brother, Leland (Angie) Catt of Robinson, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Rex Aaron Catt; and his siblings, Jim Leeds, Leo Catt, Rex Catt, Max Catt, Joyce Donaldson, and Carol Ann Wilson.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A time to celebrate Bob's life will be held from 4:30 - 6:30 pm on Thursday, February 27 at the Family Life Center in the First Christian Church in
Oblong, Illinois. Please feel free to bring photos or stories to share. Inurnment of his cremains will take place at a later date at Hardinville Cemetery in Hardinville, Illinois.
