Bob Chaney, loving Husband, Son, Dad, Grandfather, and friend, passed away at his home with his wife and dad by his side on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at the age of 71. Bob was born in Ipswich, England on July 29, 1954, the son of Robert and Maureen (Freeman) Chaney. He married Jan Machul on August 6, 1994. Bob attended Mountain Home High School, graduating in 1974. He worked for Safeway Grocery Store in Mountain Home from 1974 to 1985. He attended the Police Officers Standard Training Academy (POST). He became a road deputy for the Elmore County Sheriff's department in 1985 and was later promoted to the detective division in 2006. Bob retired in 2010 from the Elmore County Sheriff's department. Bob missed working as an officer but still served Mountain Home community by becoming a Citizens on Patrol Officer from 2013 to 2023. Bob loved his jeep and going off-road on all trips, always fascinated with cars. He had a huge model collection where he spent hours putting them all together.

He is survived by his wife, Jan, and two sons; Chad Chaney (Jenifer) and John Chaney; Grandson, Joseph Chaney; Father, Robert Chaney; Extended Family; Saarah Stromer (Nick), Jason, Carlton, Stacy Groves (Abe), Stephen Carlton; Grandchildren, Stephen, Brandon, Max Haley and Nicholas; Great-Grandchildren; Paisely and Stephen. Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Maureen (Freeman) Chaney, his sister, Karen Sue Chaney; Grandparents; Chaney's and Freeman's.

Services for Bob will be at the First Congregational Church Tuesday, September 9, 2025, viewing at 10:00 A.M. followed by a service at 11 A.M. Interment in Mountain View Cemetery. A lunch will follow the services and the family invites all to attend.

Special thanks to Horizon Hospice Healthcare of Mountain Home. They were all a true blessing for Bob, with a special thanks to Jessica and Shilo. they brough him much comfort and laughter. In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to the Lewi Body Dementia Association (LBD) or Parkinson's Foundation.
