Robert Abenicio Chavez

Robert Chavez, age 87, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, and a former resident of Belen, passed away on February 24, 2026.

Robert is survived by sons, Bob, Chris (Twila), and Joseph Chavez (Rachel); daughter, Kathy Ulibarri (Andrew); grandchildren, Valerie Davis (Andrew), Jessica Morrison (David), Felicia Monson (Sheldon), Melissa Shirah (John), Celina Chavez, and Isaac, Liliana, Simon, and Alexis Ulibarri; great-grandchildren, Jacob Chavez, Noah Marquez, Myla and James Shirah, Lincoln, Luna, and Julian Monson, Abigail and Sofia Morrison, sister Helen Velarde, brother Melcor Chavez

Robert is preceded in death by Gregorio Chavez - father, Adelina Trujillo - mother, Rita Chavez - wife

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Rosary to be recited at 10:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., with an Interment to follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. With a reception to follow

Robert was a hard working man that loved to get his hands dirty, he took much satisfaction in a hard days work. He adored his wife Rita and children. He loved his grandchildren, they called him "Papo" and he made sure to create special memories with all of them. He also loved to go out to eat, his favorite was huevos rancheros. He will be missed dearly.
