Robert D. Ciritella, 87, of
Wilmington, Delaware, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 21, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Wilmington on October 19, 1938, he was a son of the late Louis and Ida (DiSanta) Ciritella.
Bob was a graduate of Wilmington High School, and proudly served our country in the United States Navy. He was employed with Tusi Brothers Electric, retiring in 2022 after more than 40 years of dedicated service.
Bob was a member of the Defiance Club in Wilmington. He loved a wide variety of music, with Frank Sinatra being his lifelong, all-time favorite. He also enjoyed watching classic movies, solving word search puzzles, playing competitive games of checkers -which he always won, and was on the shuffleboard team at the Club. He delighted in attending his grandchildren's sporting events or hearing all of the details and offering encouraging feedback and advice. His greatest pleasure was time spent with his beloved family, with Sunday breakfasts and dinners being the most treasured.
Bob will be dearly missed by his wife of 63 years, Mary (Tusi) Ciritella; his children, Bernadette Ciritella, Robert Ciritella (Debra), Michael Ciritella (Jessica), and Theresa Ciritella (Sean Malone); along with his seven grandchildren: Dante, Emily, Michael, Allison, Giovanna, Mia, and Nicolas.
He is also survived by his brother, James Ciritella (Darlene); his sister, Dorothy Foraker; his sisters-in-law, Joan, Peg and Pat Ciritella; in-laws, Fran and Donna Tusi; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brothers, Fred, Louis, and Dominick Ciritella, as well as his in-laws, Ben and Roni Tusi.
All who knew 'Mr. C.' will forever miss his always-smiling face with those deep dimples, his easygoing personality and his lighthearted sense of humor. He was quick to make you feel comfortable, that you mattered and could have been easily placed in the 'Goomba' category of his life.
The family extends their deepest thanks to the staffs at Bayada Home Care, Cadia Rehab in Pike Creek, and Christiana Hospital for the compassionate care given to Bob.
Family and friends are invited to visit at St. Anthony of Padua Church at 9th and DuPont Streets in Wilmington on Friday, January 2, from 9:30 to 11:45AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00PM, immediately followed by entombment at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.
Bob's Mass will be livestreamed for those who cannot be present. Please use the following link: https://www.youtube.com/live/WsMafznZNT0
