Robert Cubbage Obituary

Robert Andrews Cubbage
Dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend – passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024.
Robert, known to all as Bob was born to Leighton and Roberta Cubbage in Sumter, South Carolina on June 26, 1931. Bob was raised by his parents in South Carolina until the family moved to Baltimore Maryland in the early 1940's. The first job Robert had was working with the Western Maryland Railway followed by many years working as a Carpenter.
Bob met his wife Connie (Lesniewski) and was married March 3, 1951, in Baltimore where both lived until they moved to New Jersey where they welcomed their first child, Jerome. Later they returned to Maryland as their family grew to five more children, Diane, David, Kevin, Nancy, and Pamela.
Through the years, Bob worked hard to support his family. He apprenticed to become an expert carpenter who built six homes. The family lived in four of these homes, moving when more children required more room for a larger home.
Later, Bob worked for the Washington Carpenters Union and was employed by Giant Food Stores where he was able to help all three sons follow in his footsteps of employment as a union worker. During his married life, Bob spent every holiday and most birthdays celebrating with his family. He was a calm and loving person who will always be remembered for his strong hug squeezes. Bob, or more commonly called Pop-Pop especially loved his 9 Grand Children (Celena, Rebecca, Sarah, Joshua, Cory, Cara, Craig, Cody, and Nina) and 15 Great Grand Children (Brandon, Maja, Colton, Harper, William, Abigail, Theodore, Cameron, Collin, Cooper, Olivia, Patrick, Katelyn, Jenavieve and Zachary).
Bob retired with over 40 years of hard work to build his final home in New Windsor, Maryland where he lived with his wife Connie for 42 years. During the last 5 years, the family was fortunate to have his youngest daughter, Pamela live with him to provide care and nurture during his final days.
In his memory, donations can be made to BridgingLife Dove House, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157. The family will celebrate his life with a mass held in his honor at Saint John's Catholic Church in Westminster.
His friends and family are invited to share happy memories and celebrate Robert's life in the way he would want to be remembered – as a loving and caring man who enjoyed life.
