Robert Culberson Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home on Nov. 25, 2025.
Robert Culberson, born in Hollywood, California, September 14, 1935, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025. He was the son of Franklin and Agnes Culberson and the youngest of three children, preceded in death by his brother, Donald Culberson, DDS and sister, Jean Miller.
The family moved to Louisville, Kentucky in 1937, where Bob spent his childhood. He graduated from St. Xavier High School in 1953, playing both football and the trumpet in the school band. He earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Louisville in 1958 and was a proud member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity, where he built lasting bonds and gained experiences that stayed with him throughout his life.
In 1956, Bob married the love of his life, Patricia (Keefer). Together, they shared 69 years of love, devotion, teamwork, and family. Throughout their marriage, they were constantly on the move-New Orleans, St. Louis, Cleveland, Charlotte, Louisville, Port Huron, London, back to Port Huron, and finally settling in Bonita Springs.
During his 24-year career with Acheson, Bob held leadership roles that took the family to many states and abroad. He retired as VP and Managing Director of Europe and the Far East. Bob was a natural leader-steady, fair, insightful, and respected everywhere he went.
Bob filled his life with accomplishments, though he never boasted about them. He was an Eagle Scout, a Kentucky Colonel, and a man who cared deeply about his community. He gave generously of his time and talents, serving on boards dedicated to helping the homeless, supporting affordable housing, and building homes for families in need. He also served on hospital boards and homeowner associations.
After retiring to Bonita Springs in 1999, he enjoyed golfing, tennis, boating, and the company of good friends. His happiest moments were spent with the people he loved.
Bob is survived by his wife, Patricia; their children, Brad (Linda) Culberson, Lisa (Tom) Connop, and Bart (Lynne) Culberson; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, integrity, generosity, and the love he shared so freely. He leaves behind a family who adored him and friends who will remember him with warmth and gratitude.
We are all better for having known him.
A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate his life will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at St. john the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Memorial Garden.
