Robert David “Buddy” Moore, of Valdosta, passed away on July 5, 2025, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Fl. Born September 25, 1955, in Hahira, GA., he was the son of the late Haley Gardner Moore, II and Leila Clyde Hightower Moore. Buddy grew up in Valdosta and as a youth, he loved fishing at Cherry Lake with his dad and brother, riding motorcycles, and playing pool at the Boys Club. He graduated from Valdosta High School in 1973 and went on to Valdosta State College to get his degree in Criminal Justice. Buddy met the former Donna Rambo in the mid 1970’s and they were married on August 27, 1977. The couple moved to Perry, GA briefly where Buddy worked for Thomaston Mills. In 1979 they returned to Valdosta and Buddy was employed by Smith Motors. In August of 1982 Buddy partnered with the Frito Lay Corporation where he began as a route salesman and he worked that job for almost 4 decades before retiring in 2019. More recently Buddy delighted in baking and cooking for family and friends. He relished being outdoors feeding his birds and squirrels, fishing, hunting and collecting coins. Above all Buddy enjoyed events with family and he never missed a chance to enjoy his grandchildren. He was a member of Crosspointe Church.
Survivors are his wife of 48 years, Donna Moore of Valdosta; a son and daughter-in-law, Ashley and Jessica Moore, daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Danny Johnson all of Valdosta; a sister, Jan Caldwell of Valdosta, brother and sister-in-law, Stuart and Catherine Moore of Valdosta, sister, Carole Duckworth of Tampa, FL.; grandchildren, Lilli, Reese, Evans and Carlos Moore, Thomas and Tucker Johnson all of Valdosta; nieces and nephews, David (Ashley) Moore, Stephen (Whitney) Moore, Jenna (Steven) Coody; and his beloved dog Daisy.
Funeral services for Mr. Moore will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Mr. David Rogers will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Hightower Cemetery. The Carson McLane Funeral Home has been entrusted to care for the Moore family.
