Robert A. Davidson, 78, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on September 28, 2025, following a period of declining health.
Born August 15, 1947, in Dover, Ohio, he was the son of the late George D. Davidson and Nelda L. (Randolph) Davidson. He graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1965 and was drafted into the U.S. Army in October 1966, proudly serving in Vietnam.
On June 4, 1966, just before his deployment, he married the love of his life, Carol Ann (Lewis) Davidson. They shared 59 wonderful years together.
Bob worked as a diesel mechanic for Cummins Diesel throughout his career. In his free time, he enjoyed flea markets, attending garage sales—including the World's Longest Garage Sale—and going to Jimmy Fortune concerts. A lifelong NRA member, he also appreciated gun shows and was known for his patient and kind nature.
Bob especially loved a good steak at his favorite restaurants and never complained about waiting while his wife shopped—he gladly chauffeured her and waited patiently, always with a smile.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Carol A. Davidson of Strasburg; two daughters, Holly (Danny) Shane of Bolivar, and Heather (Dave) Sikora—his beloved “Princess Heather” of Canton; and his cherished dog, Tucker, affectionately known as “The Golden Child.” He is also survived by his sister, Janet Summers of Mineral City, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Although he had no grandchildren of his own, Bob held a special place in his heart for those he considered adopted grandchildren: Lydia and Megan Bambeck, and Patrick, Maureen, and Richard Tolloti.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Carol Noble and Helen Jones; and his in-laws, Charles and Elizabeth Lewis.
Memorial contributions in Bob’s memory may be made to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, 1432 Tall Timber Rd NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663 and Ohio’s Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Bob on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 12:00 PM in the Hospitality Room at Geib Funeral Center, located at 5600 N Wooster Ave., Dover. A memorial meal will be shared, along with stories and memories celebrating his life.
