Robert "Bob" Elon Davis, age 97, of
Lee, New Hampshire, peacefully passed away January 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 7, 1928, in
Concord, NH. Bob spent his childhood growing up in
Greenland, NH. He began his married life with Enid in nearby
Rye, NH where they grew their family and friendships for over 20 years. Bob enjoyed the outdoors and helping others with whatever was needed. In 1973, he and his family moved to a small farm in
Lee, NH, where they deepened their appreciation for animals, gardening and farm life.
Bob attended Portsmouth High School and entered the U.S. Army Air Corps which became the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He became a communications specialist and proudly served our country. Upon leaving the military with an Honorable Discharge, he had the rank of Sergeant and received an official commendation for his exceptional service.
Upon returning home, Bob worked repairing radios and other electronic equipment, a skill he took with great pride. He later became employed at Kidder Press, which was acquired by Moore Business Forms Inc. in Dover, NH. He remained with the company until his retirement, earning the respect of his coworkers through his strong work ethic and reliability. He treasured gatherings with family and friends, especially times spent at the family camp in
Thornton, NH. In his retirement, for years, Bob embraced the joys of being a "snowbird" spending time with family and friends in the sunshine of Florida.
Bob has been a devoted member of the Greenland Veterans Association since its beginning. He was instrumental in developing the sales of Christmas Trees, the annual outings, and continued visits to the NH Veterans Home in Tilton, NH bringing fruit baskets, planning cookouts and visiting with fellow veterans. Bob was the long time Treasurer of the Little Portsmouth Improvement Association for the camps on Johnson Brook Rd in
Thornton, NH. Most recently, he was the recipient of the Boston Post Cane honored as the oldest living resident of
Lee, NH.
Bob was the devoted husband of Enid, with whom he shared an extraordinary 73 years of marriage. He is survived by their four children: Edward Davis and his wife Suzanne, Sharon Marquis and her husband Robert, Diane Armstrong and her husband James, and Sandra Syphers and her husband Michael; many grandchildren: Shane, Keith, Brianna, Alisha, Talia, Matthew, Joshua, Douglas, Talyn, Jamison, Jeremy and Mary; great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Katherine, Westin, Louise, Chandler, Jazmyn, Mason, Jordyn, Madelyn, Riker, Willow, Joseph, Zachary, and Denise. He delighted in the company of his great-great-grandchildren: Bailey, Blake, Rennon, and Stella. He leaves behind his siblings: Richard Davis and his wife Wendy, Elizabeth Hanson and her husband Maynard, Helen Collins, and Nancy Smith, his brother-in-law Robert Brown and Linda Flynn along with extended family and friends. Bob was predeceased by his parents; Byron and Evelyn Davis, brothers: John, Byron, Edward, and sister, Margaret Caswell and great-grandson, Jamison Minor.
Throughout his life, Bob, found his greatest joy in time spent with his family and dear friends. He was an outdoorsman at heart, whether on land or water, a sports enthusiast and an avid gardener. Bob enjoyed the pleasures of nature in all it had to offer. He will be truly missed and lovingly remembered for his kindness, humor, and quiet strength by all who knew him.
