Robert DeLaughter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by YANDA & SON FUNERAL HOME - YUKON on Dec. 17, 2025.
Robert Dean "Bob" DeLaughter, 78, of Yukon, Oklahoma, passed away on December 4, 2025, in Yukon, Oklahoma.

Bob was born on November 27, 1947, in Oklahoma City to Arley DeLaughter and Margaret Blackwell. He was the youngest of five children and grew up surrounded by love, protection, and a deep bond with his siblings-connections that remained strong throughout his life.

As a young boy, Bob developed lifelong passions for horses, cars, and music. These interests followed him into adulthood, often finding him at the racetrack on weekends, behind the wheel of countless cars, or cruising while playing his favorite music. Known for his natural gift of "wheeling and dealing," Bob helped many friends and family members find their way into a new set of keys over the years.

Bob graduated from Cameron College in 1971. Shortly before graduation, he received a draft notice from the United States Army. Following graduation, he reported to Fort Polk, Louisiana, where he served as the Senior General Clerk, Company C Headquarter Command before being honorably discharged in 1972.

He began his professional career with OG&E, where he worked diligently until his retirement in 1998. In September 1975, Bob met the love of his life, Barbara. They were married in April 1976 and welcomed their only child, Jason, in 1982.

A devoted family man, Bob took great pride in providing for his family.

After retiring from OG&E, Bob began a second career as a car salesman and later retired from Ford Motor Credit.

Following that retirement, he dedicated himself to helping fellow Army veterans navigate the process of obtaining the disability benefits they deserved-an effort that reflected his strong sense of service and compassion.

Later in life, Bob and Barbara opened their home to provide emergency short-term foster care for more than 80 infants. One of those children, Mia Morris, became someone Bob proudly considered an honorary grandchild. He also became an honorary grandparent to Juno Ilang after years of babysitting and shared care.

Bob's hobbies included going to the movies, attending the horse racetrack, buying and selling cars, and-most importantly-spending time with his wife, son, and grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his wife, Barbara DeLaughter; his son, Jason DeLaughter; his granddaughter, Lyric DeLaughter; his brothers, Jimmy DeLaughter, Richard DeLaughter, and Jack DeLaughter; and his sister, Arlene Provines. As well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces, and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arley DeLaughter, and his mother, Margarett Blackwell.

A funeral service will be held at Bethel Community Church on December 29, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a committal service at Fort Sill National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

The family extends special thanks to Mercy Hospital, VA Hospital, and Signature Hospice for their care and compassion.
