Robert A. Derian

Derian, Robert "Bob" Anthony of Walpole, MA, formerly of Dover, MA for many years, diedpeacefully on January 26th, 2024 surrounded by his family.
The son of Anthony Fundeklian and Helen Mickiewicz, Bob was born August on 27th 1935, in Waltham, MA.
He was an avid reader of history and politics which led him to pursue a B.A. at Boston University, and then a degree in Law at their Law School. Later he engaged in graduate studies in History at Brown University. While at BU he met his lovely wife of 63 years, Margaret (Copeland) Derian. They settled in Dover, MA where they raised their young family of three.
It was in Dover that Bob wholeheartedly invested himself politically and civically, serving as a Parks and Rec Commissioner for more than 20 years. He also served as a lector and CCD teacher at Dover's Most Precious Blood Catholic Church.
For many years, until his retirement in 2018, Bob maintained his own law practice specializing in family and real estate law. He was also member of the National Guard in MA transferring to the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Army Reserve rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before retiring in 1988.
Bob is survived by his wife Margaret (Copeland) Derian, and their three children, David J. Derian and his wife Kathleen of Medfield, MA, his daughters Sara E. Derian, of Northbridge, MA, and Rachel A. Hawes and her husband Alex of Tucson, AZ. He is also survived by his sister, Virginia Dover, of North Aurora, IL. Bob and Margi's beloved grandchildren are Nicholas Derian of Natick and William Derian of Cambridge, and Katherine and Finnegan Hawes of Tucson.
A celebration of life is being planned for this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed in Robert's memory to the Parkinson's Foundation.
