Robert Dillon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Franklin Funeral Home, Inc. - Franklin Square on Jan. 20, 2026.
Robert passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026 at the age of 87. He was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marion, his five children Robert (wife Elle), Kathleen, Nancy (husband Rich), Frank (wife Jennifer), Richard (wife Princess), his nine grandchildren Bruce, Colleen, Brendan, Timothy, Anna, Olivia, Emily, Brady and Reese and four great grandchildren Jazlyn, Isaiah, Milan and Nova. He cherished his time with his family.

Robert's life was devoted to his family and advocating for those in need. His quiet demeanor was highlighted by selflessness and loving advocacy. He proudly attended a multitude of races, games, meets, concerts, recitals and graduations to celebrate accomplishments and milestones. He was a loving, loyal presence for all who knew him.

Robert was born and raised in the Bronx where he attended Cardinal Hayes High School and then St. John's University. He and Marian raised their five children in Franklin Square. Robert spent three decades working as a textile salesman in New York's Garment District. His work included traveling extensively throughout the United States. Through his work he forged friendships and connections throughout the country. Robert also ran many marathons in his lifetime and truly enjoyed nature and running throughout the beautiful American landscapes as he trained for an upcoming race.

In his retirement years, Robert spent more than 20 years volunteering at St. Mary's Hospital for Children, located in Bayside, Queens. He formed meaningful relationships with children and staff as "Otto the Clown" and brought much joy and happiness to many. Robert was an avid Yankee fan and immensely enjoyed watching his favorite team compete season after season alongside his three sons.

Robert will be best known for his unyielding love and support for his loved ones, his incredible work ethic and his drive to help and advocate for others.
