Robert Drenth Obituary

Robert Drenth

November 11, 1948 - February 5, 2025

Robert Lester Drenth, 76, of Nora Springs, Iowa, passed away February 5, 2025 at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City, Iowa.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Heartland Museum, Clarion, Iowa.

Robert was born November 11, 1948 in Charles City, Iowa, son of Charles and Evelyn (Vietor) Drenth. He graduated from high school in Lyle, Minn. and was enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Robert was united in marriage to Mary Schwickerath and they enjoyed 54 years together. Together they had four children. Following his time in the service, Robert lived and breathed the railroad. He spent his entire career working with trains; watching the company change names and hands many times while his route stayed much the same. His passion for trains didn't stay at work as he loved to organize meetings to run live steam and scale model trains with his friends.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Mary; children, Cheryl (Alex), David (Molly), April, and James (Katie); grandchildren, Ashley, Emily, Jared, Mackenzie, Maggie, Amelia, and Emmett; and siblings, Don Drenth, Eileen (Duane) Thede, and Ed (Kay) Drenth.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Charles and Evelyn; grandson, Jordon; and brother, FreddyLynn.
