Robert Dutcher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Janowicz Family Funeral Home - Remus on Jan. 13, 2026.
Robert Stephen Dutcher, 91, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at New Hope in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, on January 11, 2026. He was born December 16, 1934, to Clayton and Goldie (Secord) Dutcher.

Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He spent much of his working life at Dow Chemical in Midland before retiring and continuing his trade through the Pipe Fitters Union, UA Local 85. Earlier in life, he also worked alongside his father in law building homes-a skill he carried forward all his life. Robert was always willing to lend a hand, especially when it came to home repairs, and was known for helping anyone who needed it.

An avid outdoorsman, Robert loved hunting and fishing, especially in his younger years. He enjoyed traveling, playing euchre, visiting the casino, and most of all spending time with family. Outgoing yet thoughtful, he had a playful spirit and a steady presence that made him a joy to be around. He treasured vacations with his wife and children, making countless memories that will be held close forever.

On April 13, 1962, Robert married the love of his life, Julia Owen Dutcher. Together they shared many happy years until her passing.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Dawn Dutcher; his brothers, Dale (Gail) Dutcher, Larry (Carol) Dutcher, and Jim (Ann) Dutcher; his sister, Joyce Yuncker; his special companion, Leona Riley; and his beloved grandchildren: Ethan (Megan) Randall, Brian (Tosti) Dutcher, Mariah Dutcher, Nichole (Linzy) Davis, and Cortney (Adam) Dutcher. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren who brought him much joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Goldie Dutcher; his wife, Julia; his son, Rex Dutcher; his brothers, Richard Dutcher and Gary Dutcher; and his grandson, Joshua Vansyckle.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Remus, Michigan, with Pastor Richard Taylor officiating. Family and friends may visit beginning one hour prior to the service. Visitation will take place Monday, January 19, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice or New Hope Assisted Living.

Robert will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generous heart, love of family, and the quiet ways he made the world a better place.
