Obituary
Robert (Bob) John Eix, age 51, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. Bob was born on Friday, September 3, 1971 to Fay (Vaverek) Grams and Robert Forrest Eix in Tom's River, NJ. He grew up in Little Falls, MN and graduated from Little Falls High School in 1990. After graduating, Bob joined the Air Force where he served for 7 years.
In 1992, Bob was stationed in Albuquerque, NM, where he met the love of his life, Lori. Bob and Lori were married on Friday, May 6, 1994. Shortly after, Bob started working at Intel as a manufacturing technician, where he worked for 26 years. In 1997, they welcomed their first daughter, Emily, followed by daughter Julia in 2000, and daughter Lauren in 2002.
Bob was devoted to his family and loved serving others. He spent many hours volunteering in his daughters' classrooms, coaching their sports teams, and driving them wherever they needed to go. Bob was a true handyman and was always willing to help anyone who needed him, doing everything from car repairs to home remodeling projects. He loved grilling, and was always willing to host family and friends to cook great meals for them. When his granddaughter Maisie was born in 2020, Bob became an adoring grandfather. One of his greatest joys in life was being Maisie's "Grampy", and he talked about her to everyone he knew.
Bob loved building and flying remote control airplanes, a hobby that brought him great joy and countless friendships. He had quite an impressive collection of airplanes that he loved to fly at Maloof Air Park whenever he had a chance.
Bob leaves behind his wife, Lori Eix; daughters, Emily, Julia, and Lauren Eix; granddaughter, Maisie; mother, Fay Grams; brother Aron Eix; and sister Lisa Kuchinski. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert F. Eix; and grandparents Robert and Audrey Eix and Roman and Stella Vaverek. Bob will be missed by many, including his nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, in-laws, and dear friends from New Mexico and Minnesota.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH- Westside. A Rosary will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Parish, 5712 Paradise Blvd NW, followed by Mass at 10:15 a.m. There will be a Graveside Service for Bob at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd NE at 12:15 p.m. During his battle with cancer, Bob was so grateful for all the wonderful care he received from his doctors, nurses, and other staff who treated him with great kindness. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to New Mexico Cancer Center or MD Anderson Cancer Center, where Bob was treated throughout his illness.
