Robert A. Elliot, 81, of North Scituate, passed away tragically on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Rhode Island Hospital following a house fire that also claimed the life of his beloved dog, Bella. Bella, who meant the world to Robert and his wife Linda, was his loyal companion and a cherished part of their family.
Robert cherished his home and community in North Scituate, where he lived with his beloved wife, Linda. Together for 53 years and married for 46, they shared a life full of love, travel, and joy in the simple things. From feeding birds in their backyard to exploring new destinations, they embraced life's small pleasures. Robert also loved reading books and spending time tinkering with his electronics, a hobby that brought him immense satisfaction and creativity.
He was born on July 10, 1943 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to the late Donald W. and Ruth (Johnston) Elliot. After graduating high school, Robert joined the United States Marine Corps, where he honed his discipline and dedication. Following his service, he built a successful career as a network engineer, combining his intellect and love for problem-solving.
Born with a sharp mind and a curious spirit, Robert was book-smart and technologically gifted. He was an honor roll HAM radio operator, proudly known by his call sign, NE1R, and spent countless hours connecting with people worldwide through his passion for electronics.
He is survived by his wife Linda F. (Poulin) Elliot; a son Robert Elliot, Jr. and his wife Mona of West Palm Harbor, FL; a granddaughter Candace Elliot; great-granddaughter Zoey; a sister Cynthia Elliot Carnahan, Esq. and her husband Terry of Crownsville, MD; two nieces: Katherine Skiff-Thomas and her husband Christopher of Annapolis, MD and Kendra Skiff-Phillips and her husband Andrew of Hanover, MD; grand-nieces Aurelia and Sydney and a grandnephew Sullivan.
Calling hours will be Thursday, December 5 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a funeral service on Friday, December 6, 10:00 a.m. at the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 E. Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Burial with military honors to follow in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, RI.
