Robert Wayne Fallin, 75, of Fairport, VA passed away on July 30, 2024 after a sudden illness. He was born on July 4, 1949 to Douglas and Mary Virginia Fallin. After high school, Wayne moved to Richmond where he went to work at Phillip Morris while serving in the Army Reserves.
Wayne then became involved in the local racing community, which started a 50-year career as a racing engine builder. After semi-retiring, he moved back to Fairport in 2017. Wayne also loved guns and deer hunting with his grandson carter and his friends in the GoBo Hunt Club.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty Slater Fallin; children John Carter (Lee), and Tracy Roland (Rob); 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, all of Richmond. He is also survived by his sister, Yvonne Swann (Wallace) of Heathsville. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Wayne Atkinson.
Wayne's dear friends, Mike and Tammy Woodward had this to say about Wayne's career, "The racing community has lost one of the most talented racing engine builders in the RVA area. Wayne started out working for Hoehns and Eanes H and E Racing Engines for over 20 years until their closing in the mid 90's. Then went on to work some of the best engine builders in the area including Wally Duncan, Randall Hayes Racing, Lewis Barr at LA Engineering and Chester Houghtaling at Progressive Performance. Wayne loved drag racing more than anything. He was very proud to have worked for Chester as his company specialized in building engines for the drag racing community. So anyone that knew Wayne, or had the honor of him working on something for you, I hope you think of him the next time you go for a ride or make a pass. As for us, we have lost a dear friend."
Burial will be private and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
