Robert (Rob) Lee File Jr. passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 29, 2025. Rob was born on January 19, 1945, in Evansville IN to the late Robert L and Dolores (Collins) File.
Rob graduated from North High School in 1963.
Rob retired from Prairie Farms Dairy and Evansville Truck Center. He also worked 20 years part time at the Wesselman Par 3 until it closed.
Rob was a loving husband and father and was so very proud of his family. Rob enjoyed NASCAR races and collecting NASCAR memorabilia. He loved NFL games and in his younger years Rob raced 2 cycle Go Carts. He enjoyed boating and spending time at their camp in years past at Yellow Banks. One if his great joys was playing golf and he always missed playing when he had to stop.
His love for their pets including his yorkie Samantha Jo was special.
In addition to his parents, Rob was preceded in death by his brothers Larry Gene File, Ricky Dale File, sister Beverly (File) Spindler. He also preceded by his in-laws Delbert and Jean Scott and brother-in-law Rick Scott.
Surviving Rob is his wife of almost 61years (October) Marti (Scott) File, son Jeff File (Mardi), grandsons Tayler File (Grace) and Jon-Paul File. His brother Lanny File (Paulette) and brothers in law Keith Scott (Nancy), Neil Scott (Pam), Kevin Scott (Emy), Robin Scott (Christine). Also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A memorial service for Rob will be held at Sunset Funeral Home, Cremation Center and Cemetery on Saturday September 6, 2025, at 12pm. Family and friends are invited to visit from 10am until service time.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Gentiva Hospice and Dr Anthony Inzerrello. In Lieu of flowers, the flowers requests donations made to Evansville Animal Control and the Vanderburgh County Humane Society.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
