Devlin-Gatcha Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. - PhoenixvilleRobert Herman Firestone, 88, husband of Mary Louise (Kozma) Firestone of Phoenixville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
Born on June 21, 1937 in Conshohocken, PA he was the son of the late Marian (Hampton) Firestone and Henry Firestone. From the age of 5 he resided in Phoenixville, where he grew up with his grandparents and aunt and uncle, Rene and Albert Yocum and cousins, Ella Mae and Marion.
He was a 1955 graduate of Phoenixville High School. Then he went on to work in the insurance industry, both private and commercial where he was most recently employed by the Richardson agency and was well known in the area for his years in the insurance industry.
He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Phoenixville where he had been an active member for many years. Participating in the Consistory and youth group, he also served as an elder and as chairman of the Capital Funds Campaign for the expansion and renovation of the church.
An active figure in the local community, Robert was involved with the Phoenixville Jaycees and participated in various sports leagues, including fast pitch softball and basketball, even playing league basketball into his forties. In addition to his athletic endeavors, Robert had a passion for crossword puzzles, reading mysteries, and listening to music from many genres, especially classical to hits of the 1950s. He was an enthusiastic gardener, taking great pride in his flower beds. A lifelong fan of the Eagles and Phillies, he was known for his wry sense of humor. Most importantly, Robert cherished the time spent with his wife, Mary, enjoying travels and the exploration of new places together.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 69 years Mary Louise (Kozma) Firestone;
Daughter, Debbie wife of Harry Giannopoulos;
Son, David husband of Katie Firestone;
Grandchildren, Alexandra and Nicholas Giannopoulos, and Jason and Felix Firestone.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Floyd, Francis and, Charles and sister, Annamae Firestone, aunt Rene and uncle Albert Yocum and cousins Marion and EllaMae.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service in Parkside United Church of Christ, 505 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460 on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 11:00 am.
A visitation will be held in the church on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 9:45 to 10:45 AM.
Burial will be private.
