Robert "Bobby" Fischer

Bobby John Fischer of West Nyack passed away on Monday July 25, 2022 at the age of 34.
Bobby was born on March 6, 1988 in Bronx, New York to Gary and Linda Fischer. When Bobby was a baby he was diagnosed with severe cerebral palsy and thus never developed mentally beyond that of an infant. Despite the challenges of his disability he was a sweet, loving, and friendly person and led a happy life filled with laughter.
Bobby's education consisted of Individualized Education Programs through Jawanio and the Clarkstown Central School District. He adored his teacher Liz and looked forward to their sessions. He always loved her rendition of the song Muffin Man.
Bobby loved his family, anything Disney related, ice cream, and music. His favorite music included the Beatles, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, and Elton John. The more he liked a song the more he would laugh at it. Indeed most of his days were spent smiling and laughing listening to music in the company of family. At night when he got tired he would hum along with a song as he fell asleep.
Despite the fragility of his body, Bobby was tough as nails and lived far longer than originally expected to considering the severity of his condition. At different points in his life Bobby endured surgeries and unique health challenges, but faced them with grace and aplomb uncanny for anyone, never mind someone in his condition. There was no challenge that could diminish his vibrant smile as long as he was with his family and listening to his music.
Despite Bobby's limited mental development, he developed an easy going, yet excited personality. He would light up and get excited when a family member entered his room. His joy at the simplest things warmed the hearts of anyone who witnessed it and should be a lesson to us all.
For someone of extremely limited mobility Bobby managed to travel and go on many adventures with his family in his lifetime. He visited Washington DC once, the Pocono mountains several times, the Catskills over 10 times, Wildwood New Jersey over 20 times and Walt Disney World 5 times. These family vacations created so many wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.
Bobby is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his siblings Carolyn, Michael, and Patrick; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and his two nieces.
